Logistic hotspot

The central location of Limburg is an enormous benefit for setting up your logistics operation, but we offer even more. The province plays host to the largest inland rail terminal of the Netherlands (with a connection to China) as well as the second-largest cargo airport of the Netherlands, Maastricht Aachen Airport. In total there are five barge terminals, three rail terminals and five cargo airports within a one-hour drive. Together with the well-connected highways, this creates the ideal multimodal connectivity hub in which our strong logistics landscape thrives.

Brightlands Institute for Supply Chain Innovation

The Brightlands Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (BISCI) is part of the Brightlands concept, an open innovation community in Limburg that brings together innovative entrepreneurs, researchers, and students in a specific sector. BISCI focuses in particular on the “triple bottom line principle,” which looks at the harmonious balance between profit, people, and the planet in order to obtain long-term value creation and corporate social responsibility. New technological developments, the use of digitization and big data as well as the scarcity of resources and the use of people are key research areas.
